Kayfabe

In October 1962 cold war tensions are at an all time high between the USA and the USSR. A situation is developing in Cuba and the US Government is more determined than ever to defeat Communism. A young CIA Agent has an idea. Pro Wrestling. More specifically - a pro wrestling match between an all American wrestling hero and a Russian bear. Wrestling Legend Orville Studebaker might think his life can't get any worse but if he has to fight this bear, it might.

Kayfabe is the second one act play written by Richard Wright. Wright's first played to sell out crowds and great reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe 2026. This rehearsal reading will see actors tackle this play for the first time reading from scripts in hands and will include an introduction by the writer. Scratch that new writing itch and see a play come to life for the first time. "Wright's skilled writing leaves room for humour and hope" Student News
