A new technology turns everyone on earth into a genius. But it doesn’t work in Liverpool.
Almost every human being on earth has a super computer plugged into their brain. Technological leaps that would have taken centuries happen in weeks. All wars and regional conflicts end. Climate change, poverty, Alzheimer’s, these things are solved.
And as the rest of the world leaps forward, Liverpool takes a few comfy steps back. They drop the internet, smash their smart phones, switch off from global affairs and focus on what matters: family, friends, football, music and having a boss time.
Charlie reckons they’ve got the better end of the deal. Until he meets Lola who wants him to discover what he’s missing.
To follow her, he’ll have to leave the greatest city on earth. And becoming a genius might cost him more than he’s willing to lose.
Liverpool Brain is a darkly funny, moving new play about love, belonging, identity, Superlambananas and modern technology, written by Doe Wilmann (writer of While We Wait, The Picture of John Gray, and the creator of the Meaningless Problems short story podcast) and starring Ryan Hurst (Emmerdale, Casualty, and award-winning Polish drama series Londynczycy aka Londoners).
