When the storm comes, where is the way out?

Inspired by documented cases of domestic violence, Women in the Storm is a feminist solo performance exploring the hidden barriers that can make escaping an abusive relationship so difficult.

Through a fictional woman's story shaped by real cases and testimonies, the performance traces her journey from love to control, from violence to resistance, and from seeking help to fighting for a way out. As she tries to leave, she finds herself caught between family expectations, social pressure, financial dependence, barriers to divorce, the struggle to prove abuse, and a legal system she desperately needs to protect her.

Blending monologue, physical theatre and documentary material, Women in the Storm asks us to look beyond the question, “when the storm comes, where is the way out?” and instead confront what can stand in the way when someone tries to leave safely.

Because escaping violence should not mean gambling with your life.

The performance draws on documented cases and social realities. Its characters and central narrative are fictionalised for the stage.
