The Juniper Tree - A psychedelic journey into the mad world of folk.
A satyrical, unapologetically absurd interpretation of the Brothers Grimm' fairytale The Juniper Tree. A dark, funny, and reflective take on the classic story about greed, grief, cannibalism, reincarnation and revenge. A nihilist narcissist stepmother, a rich naive dad, and a shy sensitive stepsister live through the tragedy of their young boy who is murdered. The boy reincarnates in form of a bird and sings the story of his tragedy to a vain goldsmith, a neurotic shoemaker, and an enlightened miller, in hope to get the courage to reunite with his family again. The reality and fantasy world blend together through experimental music, characters who live on different timelines, and a crossover of stories, including The Red Shoes, by Hans Christian Andersen. A cabaret style comedic performance, danced, and sung, where a new 'Juniper Tree' is born.
